Winnie returns to the Silver Screen

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with "Winnie the Pooh", the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years.

With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original Winnie the Pooh featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical "bear of very little brain" and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. "Well a tail is either there or it isn't there," said Winnie the Pooh. "And yours isn't… there."

Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for Pooh bear who simply set out to find some hunny.

 Character World Get Justin Bieber Fever

Licensing firm Character World today announced a deal to design and product a range of bedroom textiles for fans of teenage pop star Justin Bieber.

Character World, which is based at Cheadle Hulme, has teamed up with music merchandising company Bravado to create a range of bedding and accessories featuring the 17-year-old Canadian heart-throb, such as cushions and fleeces.

The items will be available from the end of this month via Character World's consumer website and from the autumn in retailers such as Argos and Littlewoods.

Danny Schweiger, joint managing director of Character World, which is backed by private equity outfit RJD Partners, said: “Teenage girls are wanting more than just a poster on their bedroom walls. Bieber fever is sweeping the nation. “We’ve tested our designs out on fans and their reactions have been fantastic. It’s a real coup for the business. We are already looking at ways to expand the range. Pop acts are a huge growth area for us.”

Schools Out at Character World

Character World is celebrating staff success after a record number of employees completed National Vocational Qualification (NVQs).

Sixteen employees of Character World have completed NVQs and one has completed a Modern Apprenticeship.  Qualifications have been achieved in a number of fields including business and administration, management and customer service.

The training at Character World was carried out through Intec Business Colleges, one of the UK’s leading training organisations.

Employees from all departments including sales, design and supply chain were put through their paces to achieve the awards.

David Marshall, head of HR at Character World, said:

“I’m extremely proud of the commitment and effort shown by all staff at Character World.  Gaining these qualifications whilst still doing your day job is a fantastic achievement.   We’re committed to investing in our employees to ensure everyone reaches their full potential and develops their careers.  There will be more employees taking NVQs in the next year and we’re always looking at other ways to ensure everyone continues to develop.”

Glee cast break Elvis Presley UK chart record

The cast of the smash hit US series Glee are celebrating after a breaking a record that Elvis Presley has held for the last 50 years.
They have now clocked up 20 top 40 hits in only 57 weeks since their first. The King previously held the record by taking 88 weeks to reach that level. After each episode is broadcast the songs featured in the show are made available for download.

In 2010, Character World signed an official license to produce Glee bedding, blankets and a host of other bedroom textiles and we now offer these product direct to fans of the show.
